Have a Cracking Easter Weekend 2014

Easter-Weekend-2014-with-Victoria-Eggs

With Easter on the doorstep, it's time to get cracking away at planning your Easter weekend 2014. We have basket loads of egg-cellent ideas to fill your weekend with laughter, memories, creativity, and of course chocolatey delights.

It wouldn't be a proper Easter without the cheery chaos of an Easter Egg Hunt. This Easter, head to Kensington Palace, open all weekend, to enjoy a rather royal egg hunt as you wind your way through the blossoming palace gardens. There will also be live performances, storytelling, and crafts throughout the weekend to keep the spirit of the Easter bunny alive and in the air.

For a guaranteed fun and jam-packed day of activities with the kids, you can also head to Kew Gardens in Richmond. For the very first time, they have teamed up with The Roald Dahl Museum & Story Centre and the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory musical to create the most egg-citing Easter to date. Of course, there will be a massively brilliant Easter Egg Hunt that will be the biggest draw with scrumptious chocolate eggs hidden across the gardens.

There will be basket loads of other activities for the kids, including create your own Will Wonka-inspired chocolate bar workshop, Roald Dahl's Revolting Rhymes, a Sweetie Train, the chance to dress oompaloompas, and plenty of face painters. No doubt about it that Kew Gardens is sure to make your Easter an outrageously fun and memorable day with the kids.

If you'd rather spend the day in the comforts of your own home, there are plenty of ideas that are sure to create traditions and memories with the family. To spice up your eggs this season, go for ombre dyed eggs. The boost in colour will make your eggs that much more fun and springy.

What you'll need:

- Hard boiled eggs

- Food colouring

- White vinegar

- Hot water

- Cups

- Egg holder

Here's how to do it:

- Lay out 4 cups to dip the eggs in

- Add 1 teaspoon of vinegar and ¾ cup of hot water to each cup

- Vary the amount of food colouring you add to each cup. Increase it from the first to last cup

- Start with the first cup with the least amount of colouring and dip the egg all the way in

- Dip the egg ¾ of the way into the second cup

- Dip the egg ½ of the way into the third cup

- Dip the egg ¼ of the way into the last cup so only the bottom of the egg Is in the darkest coloured water

And of course our aprons are ideal for helping protect your Sunday best from the splashes and spills of egg decorating!

Easter wouldn't be complete without a few traditional games to bring out everyone's competitive side. A family favourite in my household is undoubtedly the egg cracking rivalry. One person holds an egg in the palm of their hand and bangs it against your opponent's egg. Whosever egg cracks is the loser and the winner continues on to challenge the next person's egg until there is only one egg still intact. The game is sure to bring laughters and smiles to the dinner table and perhaps a healthy dose of family rivalry to continue throughout all the Easters to come.
