This month, we spoke to the fabulous team over at Daniel of Windsor, the iconic family run department store with over 100 years of history.
We caught up with Buyer and Supervisor, Katie Joel, to find out a little more about their store.
A bit about your shop:
Daniel of Windsor is a historic and family-run department store located in the heart of Windsor. Established in 1901 by Walter James Daniel, the store has been a fixture in the community for over a century. As the flagship store of the Daniel Department Store chain, we take pride in offering a diverse range of products across various departments - including furniture, beds, toys,
homeware, linen, garden, gifts, sports, men’s fashion, women’s fashion, children’s fashion, lingerie and hosiery.
The vibe in our store is welcoming and customer-focused. We aim to provide a pleasant shopping experience for everyone, with a wide range of products to cater to different needs and tastes.

What’s important to you as a shop manager?
Customer satisfaction is paramount. We prioritise maintaining a welcoming and accessible environment, ensuring that our diverse range of products meet the needs of our customers. Additionally, we focus on fostering a positive and
collaborative atmosphere amongst our staff.
What do you love about being a shop owner?
This allows us to support the local community and uphold a longstanding family tradition. We love interacting with our customers and creating a personalised shopping experience for them. Our customers are diverse, ranging from locals who have been shopping with us for generations to tourists exploring the unique charm of Windsor.
What’s your favourite season in the shop?
My favourite season in the shop is undoubtedly the festive season. The joy and excitement that fills the store during this time, coupled with the Christmas decorations and special promotions, create a magical and exciting atmosphere that resonates with both staff and customers.

What’s your favourite Victoria Eggs collection?
My favourite Victoria Eggs collection is the King Charles III Coronation collection - subtle nods to the King’s life are hidden amongst the wildlife and foliage; the eagle, swords, and anchor representing the British Armed Forces, a parachute, pens, and paintbrushes – representing his love and support for the Arts, young people, the countryside and his life-long environmental activism. The high attention to detail within this collection is inspiring.
