Our retailers are such an important part of the Wonderful World of Victoria Eggs. So, in celebration of the incredible people we work alongside, we’re proud to bring you our December Retailer of the Month.
One year on from the launch of the bespoke Christmas range that Victoria designed for Abbey Road Studios, this month we spoke to the fabulous team at the Abbey Road Gift Shop.
We caught up with the Head of Retail, Jason Hart, to find out a little more about their store.
Tell us about your shop, Jason.
The Abbey Road Shop, opened its doors in November 2015, and sits right next to the legendary Abbey Road Studios at number 5 Abbey Road. It’s more than just a retail space; it’s a destination for music lovers from around the world who come to walk the zebra crossing, write a message on our famous front wall, and immerse themselves in the past, present and future of Abbey Road. The shop offers a carefully curated selection of exclusive merchandise that celebrates both the studio's continuing role in popular music and the artists who have recorded here. This means 80% of what we sell is exclusive to Abbey Road, making each item a special keepsake of the Abbey Road experience.
Every customer enters with a sense of awe and excitement, knowing they are as close as they can get to the heart of Abbey Road Studios. You can feel the energy as fans relive stories of their favourite artists with the team.
Describe your shop in three words!
Iconic. Exciting. Inspiring.
What’s important to you as the Head of Retail?
Creating an experience that honours Abbey Road’s legacy while delivering a modern, exciting environment for our customers is paramount. I love working closely with our buyer to develop unique, exclusive products that capture the spirit of the studios. It’s incredibly rewarding to see our customers’ reactions when they first step in—there’s often a gasp of amazement as they realise where they are. Knowing that we’re helping them celebrate a once-in-a-lifetime visit to such an iconic site is a huge source of pride for the entire team. Our customers come from all over the world, each with their own connection to Abbey Road’s music history, and creating a space that resonates with that history and excitement is what drives us all.
What’s your favourite season in the shop?
My favourite season in the shop has to be Summer, specifically June through August. It’s like our own version of Christmas, with over 30,000 visitors each month. The atmosphere is incredible, filled with the buzz of excited visitors and fans who’ve made their pilgrimage to Abbey Road. Seeing the joy on their faces after crossing the famous street, signing the wall, and finally entering the shop is unforgettable. The energy is contagious, and it’s a season where we really get to see the global impact Abbey Road continues to have on music fans across the globe.
Why do you choose to stock Victoria Eggs?
Victoria Eggs’ designs combine a sense of Britishness and craftsmanship that resonates perfectly with Abbey Road’s place in popular culture. Victoria’s hand-drawn illustrations are full of whimsical detail and clever nods to British icons and traditions, aligning beautifully with our mission to celebrate Abbey Road’s legacy. Each collection has a playful yet nostalgic quality that connects with our visitors from all over the world. Plus, Victoria’s commitment to sustainable, high-quality materials ensures that each piece is not only beautiful but also responsibly crafted. This collection, with its Easter Eggs honouring our artists’ history, is a fantastic fit for our customers.
What’s your favourite Victoria Eggs collection?
My favourite Victoria Eggs collection has to be our own Abbey Road Christmas range. It was a joy to collaborate with Victoria on a design filled with intricate details and Easter Eggs. Each element, from the reindeer in the HELP! scarves to the nods to The Dark Side of the Moon and Chris Rea Driving Home for Christmas—pays tribute to Abbey Road’s rich musical history in a wonderfully festive way. There’s a real sense of discovery for our customers as they spot each reference, and knowing that Jamie and I are even hidden in the design is a fun personal touch.
