When the British Library approached Victoria Eggs in March 2025 with a request to design a special collection to mark 250 years of Jane Austen, Victoria was delighted to be asked to create a collection celebrating such a literary icon. The goal was simple yet ambitious: to honour Austen’s remarkable life and enduring legacy through a beautifully crafted range of gifts that echo the wit, romance, and Regency era elegance of her novels.
Inside the Jane Austen Collection
The final collection, beautifully displayed in the British Library shop, includes:
- Fine bone china mug
- 100% cotton tea towel
- 2 wooden decorations (book-stack and teapot motifs)
- 2 bars of soap (with themed packaging)
- 3 magnets
- 2 notebooks
- 2 keyrings (the teapot being Victoria's personal favourite and a best seller)
- Canvas bag
- T-shirt
-
Oversized jumper
Each item carries the signature illustration and, in many cases, Austen’s beloved quote: “I declare after all there is no enjoyment quite like reading.”
As part of the Library’s "Retailer of the Month" feature for October 2025, the shop’s team shared how the collaboration brought together their world of books with Victoria’s world of handcrafted design:
“Working with Victoria was a pleasure; the quality, attention to detail, and sensitivity to literary heritage are outstanding.”
For visitors browsing the shelves, the Jane Austen pieces sit comfortably among historic manuscripts and rare books, not as souvenirs, but as lovingly created tributes to one of Britain’s greatest authors.
Why This Project Matters

This collaboration is not just about merchandise. It bridges literature, design, and British craftsmanship. It offers book lovers, history enthusiasts, and gift seekers something more meaningful than a standard souvenir, a keepsake that feels connected to Austen’s world, whether enjoyed as a morning tea mug or a printed towel.
Because everything is desi
gned and made in the UK, with sustainable materials and thoughtful production, the collection also continues the brand’s ethos of home-grown creativity and ethical craft.
“A truly enjoyable project from start to finish, something I’m very proud of.”
